Nestled in the middle of the busy boulevards of Manila, Hospicio de San Jose is a haven of hope for abandoned, neglected and surrendered children. Having weathered the ups and downs of Philippine history since 1810, this temporary shelter still stands today, evolving with the changing times and new forms of poverty to open its doors to the “truly poor” and marginalized by Philippine society.
Guided by its commitment to Vincentian, family-oriented, collaborative, holistic, innovative and spiritually-rooted service, Hospicio de San Jose has created an environment of care within its island sanctuary that respects the human dignity of those marginalized by society.
Here, they are provided both residential and non-residential services – like health and psycho-social care, pastoral and home-life support, education, vocational skills training and livelihood – nurturing and uplifting the total wellbeing of those who have been left with very little, if nothing at all.
Rooted in the Charity of Jesus Christ Crucified, Hospicio de San Jose is committed to the integral development and well-being of the vulnerable and excluded sectors of society, especially the abandoned and neglected children, persons with special needs, older persons and people in crisis situations, through sustainable programs and services where Resource Sharing and Participative Involvement is a way of life.
Though Hospicio de San Jose is built to be a temporary shelter, its scope of services ranges from residential to non-residential needs.
